September 26th, 2007 | by admin | 4,242 ViewsNUVALI: A New Metropolis Rises Ayala Land Moves at Unprecedented Scale and Speed to Make Living in the Future NOW, a Reality A new urban lifestyle is taking shape in the South.
To date, NUVALI is Ayala Land’s largest, master-planned regional hub in the Philippines. “It terms of size, it’s about 8 times the size of the Makati Central Business District, and is roughly an hour away from Makati. The development is well connected but is also the gateway to Region 4 — so we feel that its size and its location will really make NUVALI a metropolis that has strong regional connections,” shares Jim Ayala, President of Ayala Land.
Ayala Land’s ability to create this new urban hub is backed by their expertise and heritage in urban planning and development, as evidenced by previous developments such as the Makati Central Business District, Alabang, Bonifacio Global City and Cebu Business Park.

In the spirit of unprecedented firsts, NUVALI will feature the simultaneous launch of three different residential developments from Ayala Land and its subsidiaries: Ayala Land Premier, Community Innovations and Avida. Each one, with its distinct lifestyle offerings, is designed to answer to the diverse needs of its particular market segment, allowing NUVALI’s new way of life to be more accessible to a broader market.

Carrying on Ayala Land’s pioneering tradition of lifestyle innovation, NUVALI will combine the latest green building technology with sustainable urban planning, architecture and construction practices. Plans include creating alternative means of transportation to de-emphasize cars via pedestrian friendly paths or privately managed transit systems; introducing abundant greenery to minimize impact on the land and offer soil-erosion control, water retention and a healthier, more comfortable environment; using bio-swales and permeable paving; institutionalizing water recycling; and defining distinctly designed multi-use neighborhoods to encourage interaction and foster relationships within the community.
Ayala Land has set the stage for the growth of a community that is as exciting, complete and impactful as NUVALI. It is a testament to the company’s foresight in planning, which will include urban centers, residential enclaves, business initiatives and infrastructure developments that follow the tenets of ecological, social and economic sustainability. Ayala Land, in its determination to give urbanites the essentials of urban living, will ensure that NUVALI becomes a community that thrives over time as it establishes an equilibrium between lifestyle and urban necessities.
NUVALI is undoubtedly one of the most impressive demonstrations of Ayala Land’s commitment to continuously elevate the Filipino lifestyle. The rise of NUVALI ushers in a non-traditional concept of urban living, where the blueprint of balanced urban growth marks several unprecedented firsts for the developer in terms of development pace, scale and concept.

Nuvali…WOW!!! A trip back to the future. I was born in Canlubang in 1922 and lived there with my family until the Japs sacked the plantation during their retreat in WWII (January, 1945). Migrated to the U.S. with my American-born mestiza wife that same year and have lived here since. Am now retired, but am too old and have too many close ties here to live out the rest of my life in my beloved Canlubang. My birthplace was the hospital in the central part of the plantation (across the street from the
statue of Jose Rizal, if it’s still there). My father was the first Filipino hired by the American owners who bought he land from the friars in Calamba.
Am currently working on a trilogy whose fist will be about my growing up years on the sugar plantation. It’s titled “Tales From My Tamarind Tree”. If there are any oldtimers in Canlubang who remember my family, I’d be delighted to hear from them via e-mail c/o Webmaster.
